Turtle Island Arts

Mark Barfoot, (donehogawa) a North American Indian Folk Artist was born in North Carolina, in 1952, the son of an Onondaga, Wolf Clan, mother and a Eastern Band Cherokee father. A self taught Indian folk artist, he learned the art of finger weaving at a very young age. Throughout his childhood and life he continued to learn and master other Indian Folk Arts, such as; hand carving wood, antler, and stone, flute making, drum making, knife making, and hand carved elk antler jewelry. And shared his creations with family and friends.
Then in 1990, Mark began to offer his North American Indian Folk Art to the public. And since has received Awards of Excellence at many Art Festivals for his work.
Then three years ago, while at the Champion of Champions Powwow, on the Six Nations of the Grand River Reserve, Mark was demonstrating playing one of his Indian Love Flutes, when the owners of a CDR Recording Studios approached Mark, and said they would like to record Mark's Indian Love Flute songs. Since that time Mark has recorded three spiritually motivated albums of Indian flute music. Those albums are SpiritKeeper, Dreamscape, and Moved by the Spirits. These three albums take you on a 'Spiritual Journey', that you will really feel in the center of your being.
